Q: Which mobile operators does EasyConnect support?
A: EasyConnect can support any operator with a cellular or wireless network and have been deployed with more than 50 operators worldwide.

 

Q: Which network bearers are supported?
A: EasyConnect Go supports LTE, HSPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS, CDMA. In addition, EasyConnect Advanced supports WiFi and LAN.

 

Q: What is the difference between EasyConnect Go and Advanced Editions?
A: EasyConnect Advanced Edition supports automated data offload from the operator's mobile network core, to WiFi and/or LAN.

 

Q: How does Birdstep ensure that devices are supported?
A: Birdstep maintains close relationships with the major device manufacturers, which enables us to support devices very early and sometimes even before they are commercially available. In addition, EasyConnect's built-in automatic update feature, allows support for new devices to be added at any time after delivery to the operator.
Birdstep also works with all the major standardization organizations to ensure that all Open API's are supported.

 

Q: Which devices are supported?

Q: Are hotspot login modules supported?
A: Yes, both HTTPS and WISP-r login modules are supported.

Q: Which operating systems are supported?
A: Microsoft Windows XP SP3, Microsoft Windows Vista SP2 (32/64-bit), Microsoft Windows 7 (32/64-bit), MAC OS X 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 (Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard) and 10.7 (Lion).

Q: How is EasyConnect Updated?
A: All EasyConnect clients are reachable via the Operator's EasyConnect Management Server. This is enables device firmware and driver updates, software upgrades and much more to be pushed to all users, in a controlled fashion. User group subsets can be addressed based on user segmentation (for example APN or IMSI range), or based on client environment parameters such as MBB device type, PC operating system, software version number etc.

 

Q: How is EasyConnect used for communication with MBB subscribers?
A: EasyConnect supports the following communications channels to the operator's customers:

  • Operator SMS, with targeted individual messaging and advanced message templates.
  • Marketing carousel, in the main client UI, easily updated and supporting animations, videos, pictures and sounds.
  • Support messaging, via a cost-efficient, non-intrusive presentation area  in the main user interface of EasyConnect. The support area can be updated by EMS or by RSS.
