Birdstep Joins the Open Mobile Alliance as a Full Member
Birdstep adopts OMA's initiative for standardisation and interoperability to ensure the future of seamless and secure connectivity for mobile devices
OSLO, Norway, 23 August 2011 - Birdstep Technology, a leading provider of wireless connectivity software, reinforces its commitment to seamless and secure mobility by joining the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) as a Full Member, the company announced today.
Represented by the whole mobile ecosystem of the world's leading mobile companies, OMA is a 200-member industry forum for developing market driven, interoperable mobile service enablers. The Alliance provides a total network for mobile operators and vendors to reduce the amount of work and time to market for new devices.
Birdstep's commitment to standards is part of the company's vision to provide mobile users easy access to Internet and other online services and applications - whenever and wherever they need to connect. Birdstep's award-winning mobile broadband products and solutions are based on open international standards for seamless integration with existing Internet-based applications and ability to leverage existing technology investments.
"Birdstep joins OMA to be part of the development of market driven, interoperable mobile service enablers. Focusing first on the connection management APIs, OMA offers an invaluable forum for standardisation of these APIs. This will bring everyone together in agreement on a joint standard that will result in product improvements and contribute to reduced time to market for devices," said Anders Storm, vice president of engineering and operations at Birdstep.
Birdstep also announces plans to attend the OMA Technical Plenary / Working Group as part of the OMA Member Meeting, taking place Aug. 29 - Sept. 2, 2011 in Vancouver, B.C.
