Siemens Power Generation Select RDM Mobile
Seattle/Oslo – December 19, 2007- Birdstep Technology (OSE: BIRD), today announced that Siemens Power Generation will use Birdstep’s RDM Mobile Database for its next generation Wind Turbine control system.
Siemens Power Generation’s demand for a high-performance, fault tolerant, always-on in-memory database that has the ability to dynamically change the database schema after deployment, makes RDM Mobile a natural fit for this project.
“Of all embedded databases evaluated, Birdstep’s RDM Mobile has the flexibility and ease of use we need, and when you add Birdstep’s excellent pre- and post-sales support, RDM Mobile is the obvious choice", says Michael Laursen – Project leader at Siemens, adding, “Birdstep was one of the few players that was able to propose a more complete solution within the embedded database market space”.
“Birdstep is excited to work with Siemens Power Generation and ready to grow with their needs”, says Duncan Bates, VP of Product Management. “The quality of Raima Database Managers has been established through 25 years of successful deployment. By selecting an embedded database pioneer, Siemens Power Generation has the right vendor to partner up with to ensure success of their business critical application.”
About The Raima Database Manager Family
Raima released the first version of the Raima embedded database in 1984. Since then the family has grown into three successful embedded database products. RDM Embedded pioneered the embedded market space under the name dbVista. Building on the success of RDM Embedded, Raima released the product in a client/server configuration under the name Velocis, now called RDM Server. Augmenting the two is RDM Mobile, ideally suited for consumer electronics and low cost mobile devices such as set-top boxes, mp3 players etc.
