Authentication Manager

The OAM is an innovative authentication solution that allows mobile operators to roll-out Wi-Fi services, using the SIM-card as the unique subscriber identity. It enables ubiquitous global access to Wi-Fi networks irrespective of current access point limitations.

The system uses a two phased authentication approach where the SIM-card
is supplied by the mobile operator and connected to the PC through a dual mode PC-card or a USB reader:

  • The subscriber is authenticated using EAP/SIM over the RADIUS protocol in the first phase. This is done towards the mobile operator’s back-end system through the OAM.
  • In the second phase, the user is authenticated through the local WISP’s access gateway using temporary credentials created in the first phase. Authentication is performed using the universal access method (UAM).

The OAM is available both as an extension to existing OSCs or in a standalone configuration.
