Birdstep Mobile IP Toolkit enables hardware and software manufacturers to quickly integrate mobility management features to their own products. The high-quality ANSI C standard compliant source code with documentations that is common to all software components of the Secgo Mobile IP product family is available for all OEM customers who have licensed the toolkit.

Birdstep Mobile IP enables seamless mobility between different data networks: Birdstep Mobile IP makes sure that of all available networks the best possible – e.g. the fastest and cheapest – is used. Moving from one network to another is automatic and does not require any intervention from the user or cause any interruptions in the data traffic. With Secgo Mobile IP, the company information systems are available regardless of time and location, on the road as well as in the office. Birdstep Mobile IP also facilitates workstation maintenance since the maintenance personnel are able to reach mobile devices remotely in one and the same address.

Extensive and standard compliant
Birdstep Mobile IP Toolkit provides a solid base for full-featured RFC3344 compliant mobility management software. It is proven, mature software with everything that is required for OEM development. The software is ideal for projects requiring fast time to revenue, high quality and good performance.

Birdstep Mobile IP Toolkit includes:

  • Source code: the same source code is used for building Secgo Mobile IP product binaries
  • Developer documentation for engineers
  • User documentation for client and server products Modular architecture

Modular architecture
Birdstep Mobile IP Toolkit architecture is modular and divided into platform-specific and platform-independent parts. Porting to a new platform requires rewriting or modifications only for the simple platform-specific part, which is called Operating System Abstraction Layer (OSAL).

Re-use of the platform-independent parts of the architecture is efficient across all the system components.

Introducing new Mobile IP extensions, authentication backends and configuration backends is simple due to the flexible extension and plugin mechanisms.

Portable source code
Birdstep Mobile IP Toolkit source code conforms to the ISO C99 standard. It is easy to read, develop, maintain and support. The code is robust, resource-efficient and easily portable.

Developer documentation
All development documentation produced and used internally by Birdstep R&D is provided with the toolkit. This includes:

  • Architecture documentation
  • Library and API documentation
  • Function and data type documentation
  • Module tests and product test scenarios
  • Coding instructions and guidelines
  • Make files and instructions for compilation and linking
  • Standards (RFC) compliance documents
  • Training and support

Training and support
Birdstep provides training for getting started with the Toolkit and R&D-level technical support for problem situations. The Toolkit is also continually developed with upgrades and patches.

Further information
Since Birdstep Mobile IP Toolkit contains all the same features as Birdstep Mobile IP product binaries, you can learn more about the available functionality on other Birdstep Mobile IP product pages and in available material, such as the product data sheet, which lists the supported standards.
