Birdstep awarded significant laptop mobility contract from global PC manufacturer

(Oslo, August 27 2007) Birdstep Technology ASA, the leading provider of secure seamless connectivity and mobility software for laptops, PDA's and Smartphones, has been awarded a significant contract with a global PC manufacturer.
Following the contract award, Birdstep will be delivering connectivity software for the manufacturer's laptop PCs. The agreement is for a three-year term and includes software licensing, support and maintenance services.
“We feel proud of entering into a long-term cooperation with one of the world's largest laptop manufacturers. The demand for easy-to-use mobility software is growing rapidly in the laptop market and we are pleased to be in the front seat of that development”, says Petri Markkanen, CEO of Birdstep Technology.
In addition to winning this contract Birdstep has recently made some strategic acquisitions. Since the beginning of 2007, Birdstep has acquired Aramova Inc. and Secgo Software Oy to expand the company's US presence and strengthen the competence within mobile security.
“The recent acquisitions have been important steps and conditions in positioning Birdstep for penetrating new strategic market segments. By winning this contract, we reinforce our leadership in the secure mobility and connectivity market”, says Petri Markkanen.
Under the terms of the contract, Birdstep is unable to disclose the name of the laptop manufacturer before the products are introduced in the market.
