Terje Thon elected as new Chairman of the Board for Birdstep Technology
~ Former Board Member Terje Thon appointed as new chairman of the Board ~
Oslo/Stockholm/Seattle/Cambridge – May 18, 2006 –Birdstep Technology ASA, the leading provider of seamless connectivity and mobility client software for laptops, Pocket-PC and Smartphones, announced that Terje Thon is the company's new Chairman of the Board. He has been a board member since 2003.
With over thirty years' experience, Mr Thon has a strong technical and commercial background in the telecom sector. The majority of Mr Thon's career was spent with Telenor where Mr Thon held several executive management positions. Mr Thon also held the executive management position for Telenor's international operations.
In addition to his assignment as chairman of the board for Birdstep he is also Chairman of the Board for Tandberg Data ASA and Bravida ASA among others.
The appointment of Mr Thon as chairman reinforces Birdstep's focus to be the leading provider of products and services for easy and simple access to mobile networks and services.
Terje Thon holds a Master of Engineering degree in electrical engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology at Trondheim, and a P.M.D from Harvard Business School.
