Birdstep Technology Releases RDM Server 7.0 Embeddable Database
New Version Offers Increased VLDB Support, In-Memory Table, and Considerable Performance Optimization
Birdstep Technology (OSE: BIRD) today announced the latest version of its RDM Server embeddable database management system. The new version of RDM Server includes increased VLDB support, In-Memory Tables, and Considerable Performance Optimizations. RDM Server is specifically designed with unique tools for performance enhancement and database customization.
Compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit platforms, RDM Server is an embeddable database management system employing client/server architecture for business critical information that must be available immediately and reliably. Like all Birdstep RDM databases, RDM Server 7.0 development flexibility means a faster to market application development. Also, through RDM Server's extension modules, developers are able to incorporate application business logic centrally lowering the cost of ownership (lower network bandwidth and client hardware requirements), which facilitates a thin-client environment. In addition, RDM Server v7.0 continues the long standing reputation combining high performance with data security and fault tolerant applications through its state of the art transaction system. Furthermore, with RDM Server's hot-online backup functionality, database applications can run 24/7 with zero downtime.
Birdstep RDM Server offers a cost-effective and scalable solution for developers of embedded applications in diverse industries and markets, such as financial services, medical devices, telecommunications, networking equipment, business automation and e-business applications.
“Customers can count on Birdstep's embeddable databases to meet their database needs for complex and performance critical applications,” said Duncan Bates, Product Manager, Birdstep Technology. “We have extended our very large database support by increasing our addressing space. Amazingly, RDM Server can now handle 18 quintillion (1018) records per table! Upon our customer's request, we increased the total throughput by 50% versus previous releases. Also, we extended the system with a highly configurable in-memory table system, by allowing the developer choice in allocating data, indexes and blobs between memory and persistent storage, making us the leader in the performance game. RDM Server's unique ability to mix the network data model with the relational data model, choice to store the data in-memory and/or on persistent storage, while accessing it through industrial standard interfaces is not only a unique offering, but an enormous benefit to the application developer.”
